A Modern Allotment
The brief for this client was to create an additional dining space in the sunniest part of the garden and to introduce as many fruit & herbs as we were able, whilst ensuring that the garden was in keeping with the townhouse & did not become an allottment.
The design was created using a circle; the opposing corners were for two paved areas and two large planting areas. Fruit trees were added to the walls & fences where appropriate, some underplanted with rhubarb, whilst the bed closest to the house was full of herbs. To create a more modern edge we added horizontal western red ceder panels to the old garden fencing and created planting sections edged in box hedging, whilst the rendered cubes were used as focal points as well as additional seating, when lit they have a subtle glow.
